AI, explained › Getting started

Getting started.

You do not need an AI strategy to begin. You need one good problem, clean data behind it, and a small, safe test.

What it is.

  • 1. Pick one painful, repetitive task. Something that eats hours every week, such as quotes, reports or answering the same questions. See use cases.
  • 2. Check the data behind it. Is it in one place, current and correct? See your data.
  • 3. Run a small, governed pilot. A few people, a few weeks, clear rules and a before-and-after measure. See AI governance.

Why it matters to you.

  • Small wins build confidence and fund the next step.
  • Most failed AI projects start too big or skip the data.
  • Free government help exists for small business through the National AI Centre's AI Adopt Centres.
